Short — a position that profits from a price decline: sell a borrowed asset now, buy it back cheaper later, keep the difference. In crypto, usually done through perpetual futures on a CEX or DEX.

Shorting with leverage is how traders get liquidated on sudden pumps — the loss on a short is theoretically unlimited.
