A rug pull is a scam where the team behind a token or project suddenly withdraws liquidity from the pool or dumps all their tokens, leaving investors with empty wallets. From the English idiom "pull the rug from under someone."

Risk markers: anonymous team, no smart contract audit, owner can mint tokens or remove liquidity without a timelock.

Example#

"Bought $100 of a token, an hour later the team rug-pulled — liquidity went to zero."
