TON Wiki is an open encyclopedia about the TON ecosystem, created collaboratively by its community. It aims to document the history and growth of TON and to introduce new Web3 users to its features.

TON Wiki provides multilingual, regularly updated articles on TON components, tools, and community activities. Contributors can write, edit, and earn rewards through a structured workflow.

Overview#

TON Wiki’s mission is to record the development of the TON ecosystem, while its goal is to help newcomers understand TON and attract new users. The platform aggregates articles in several languages on a single, user‑friendly site.

Target audience

  • Active contributors such as community members, authors, native speakers, and editors.
  • Content consumers, including beginner Web3 users and regular participants in the TON ecosystem.
  • Project creators, aspiring developers, crypto investors, and sponsors.

Structure and multilingual support#

The encyclopedia is hosted on dedicated subdomains for each language (e.g., en.tonwiki.space). As of the latest update, it is actively maintained in 12 languages: English, Russian, Spanish, French, Persian (Farsi), Arabic, Indonesian, Turkish, Polish, Ukrainian, Hindi, and Yoruba. Content updates currently focus on three sections: English, Russian, and Spanish.

Core sections

  • Articles – the main repository of encyclopedia entries.
  • TON Society AMA Reviews – text summaries of video AMAs.
  • TON Events – results and highlights of major TON‑related events.

Article organization#

Articles are categorized and tagged by topic. Prominent categories include:

Content creation guidelines#

Requirements

  • Accurately reflect the article’s subject.
  • Provide value to the TON/Telegram ecosystem.
  • Be understandable to beginners.
  • Follow an objective, information‑style tone.

Prohibited content

  • Advertising or promotional language.
  • Excessive off‑topic details unrelated to TON/Telegram.

Authors are encouraged to consult the Editorial Policy (currently available only in Russian) for detailed style guidance.

How to contribute#

Anyone familiar with the TON ecosystem and capable of writing can become a contributor.

  1. Register on the Wiki site.
  2. Review the Article Creation Guide and the Editorial Policy.
  3. Choose a topic from the List of Needed Articles or propose a new one.
  4. Draft the article in Google Docs.
  5. Submit the draft to the working Telegram chat for editorial review.
  6. After revisions, upload the article to the Wiki.

Translators select existing articles for translation and upload their versions after native‑speaker review. Contributors receive rewards based on completed work, using the current rates table.

Support is available through both the International and Russian‑speaking working chats on Telegram.

Technical infrastructure#

TON Wiki runs on the open‑source MediaWiki engine, allowing independent publishing by authors. A detailed guide to editing MediaWiki pages is provided. The project’s progress is tracked in a public spreadsheet that lists topics, draft status, editorial notes, and reward rates. Monthly progress reports are posted in the TON Wiki GitHub thread.

Timeline and milestones#

  • February 2024 – First article published: The Open Network.
  • February 2024 – International and Russian author communities launched on Telegram.
  • March 6 2024 – TON Foundation approved support for TON Wiki.
  • March 2024 – Seven new language sections added (EN, ES, FR, TR, FA, ID, UK).
  • April 2024 – Editorial Policy (RU) published.
  • May 2024 – Reached 10 language sections; 140 articles created in that month.
  • June 2024 – Articles organized into categories.
  • July 2024 – Site analytics showed a 2× increase in new readers compared to June.
  • August 2024 – TON Society AMA Reviews section launched.
  • September 2024 – Wiki became available as a Telegram Mini App.
  • October 2024 – TON Events section launched.
  • March 2025 – Over 1,000 articles published; first AMA with TON Wiki held.
