The Universal Basic Smartphone (UBS) is a hardware project from Oyster Labs that rewards users for sharing data through the OysterEarn app and provides a curated dApp Store with over 600 decentralized applications on the TON ecosystem.

UBS ships with several pre‑installed applications:
- OysterEarn – handles data‑sharing rewards and cash‑back offers.
- Universal dApp Store – gives access to 600+ TON‑based dApps.
- Uniwallet – a native TON wallet for managing tokens and NFTs.
The device runs Android 10, features a Cyber silver chassis, and includes a USB‑C port for charging and data transfer.

Launch and pricing#
The phone entered a pre‑sale at $99. Within three days, 12,000 units of the Founding Series were sold. The pre‑sale coincided with the conclusion of the TON Hacker House hackathon on 4 April 2024.
A second edition, Friend with Benefits (FWB), was offered in June 2024 for $129.99 plus a $30 shipping fee. The FWB edition grants 3 Universal Points per device, while the Founding Series includes a Genesis NFT and 10 Universal Points.
Ecosystem integration#
UBS users can earn Universal Points that may be distributed as data dividends or used for exclusive benefits within the Oyster ecosystem. The device’s pre‑installed dApp Store ensures immediate access to a broad range of TON services without additional installation steps.
Controversies and rumors#
There were rumors of collaboration between Oyster Labs, TON, and HashKey. Oyster Labs publicly denied these claims.
