Anthony Tsivarev is a software developer who leads ecosystem development for the Open Network (TON). He previously co‑founded LocalEvents, held senior engineering roles at VK, and partnered with Web3 startups before joining TON.

Early life and education#

Tsivarev completed secondary school No. 617 in St. Petersburg and then attended ITMO University, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Software Engineering. He also completed additional training at the Skolkovo Open University.

Professional career#

LocalEvents (Nov 2011 — Jul 2015)

Co‑founder and Technical Director
LocalEvents was a platform for discovering events on the VK social network, integrating multiple services and a custom UI. The project earned awards at both Russian and international levels.

VK (Jul 2015 — Feb 2022)

Roles: PHP Software Engineer → Team Lead → Head of Developer Platform → Director of SuperApp

During his tenure, Tsivarev oversaw the creation of the VK Mini Apps platform, which integrated 35,000 third‑party services and attracted over 40 million monthly active users.

Focused on identifying and supporting early‑stage Web3 projects, contributing to the launch of several startups.

Initially worked on TON Footsteps (now TON Grants & Bounties) alongside Kirill Malev. His current responsibilities include fostering new use cases, assisting projects to gain traction, and building tooling to simplify development on TON. He also oversees programs such as developer bootcamps, cash‑reward grants, the TON Foundation “gas pedal,” and The Open League.
